Do you often dream of having beautiful perky breasts which have a picture-perfect contour?

Women go through a lot of emotional pressure to get out of their inhibition and choose breast lift surgery for themselves. It’s not always about the drooping and sagging shape of the breast that affects women; rather, the natural wear and tear can affect the functionality, such as pain in the breast or itchiness and heaviness.

All these issues can be fixed with a simple breast lift surgery!

The inhibition that most patients face when it comes to breast lift procedures is whether it will permanently affect their nipple sensitivity. Watch the video until the end to find your answers! But first, let’s understand more about the procedure.

What is Breast Lift surgery?

The breast lift procedure involves rearranging your breast tissues to lift them through an incision and reshaping the tissue for giving your breast a rejuvenated uplift. It gives your breasts a perkier look making them more aesthetically appealing.

Despite the many benefits of the breast lift procedure, there are still taboos surrounding it that stop women from choosing what they desire for themselves.

One such taboo is the fear of losing sensitivity in the nipple areas, thus making sex less pleasurable. It also doesn’t help that conversations around sex are further stigmatised in our society. Now is the time to change the stigma around breast lift surgeries and make the right information available for those who need it!

So Does Breast Lift Really Affect Your Nipple Sensitivity?

The answer is yes and no!

Yes, your nipples are less sensitive immediately after surgery, but that’s only temporary!

So No, a breast lift doesn’t affect your nipple sensitivity in the long run if you follow all the post-op recovery guidelines recommended by your surgeon.

So what is the reason behind this temporary loss of sensitivity in the nipple area?

Breast lift surgery is typically performed under general anaesthesia, The breast tissues are rearranged through a vertical lollipop incision from the areolar region to the breast crease. This is followed by repositioning the nipple and areola for a perkier look.

The reason nipple sensation may be affected is because the nerve supply to the nipple can be disrupted during all these rearrangement of tissues. While recovering from this phase of no sensation to return to complete normal sensation, sometimes there can be a phase where there can be increased sensitivity and paraesthesia in the nipples. This occurs because of regeneration of the nerves in the affected area and is a sign of recovery of sensation. So In almost all cases, any change in nipple sensation is only temporary and will usually resolve within 6 to 8 weeks following the breast lift procedure.

The overall recovery after breast lift is usually pain free. There can be some discomfort for a few days post-surgery. However, it is safe to resume routine activities the next day. The breast lift procedure can be done in one day, and patients can be discharged the same day.
