Breast Lift Demonstration | Dr. Nathan Leigh

Dr. Nathan Leigh demonstrates the Breast Lift procedure. A Breast Lift is perfect for treating loose skin the breast area. The goal of surgery is to balance the skin with the breast volume. If the nipple’s position is low, we can address that by removing the excess skin.

Breast Lift and Breast Reduction are similar operations, with the big difference that in a Breast Reduction, the breast glands are made smaller.

A Breast Lift can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. If your breasts are small or have lost volume – for example, after pregnancy – breast implants inserted in conjunction with mastopexy can increase both their firmness and their size.

Many women seek breast lift surgery because pregnancy and nursing caused stretched skin and loss of volume in their breasts. If you’re planning to have more children, it may be a good idea to postpone your breast lift. While there are no special risks that affect future pregnancies (for example, mastopexy usually doesn’t interfere with breast-feeding), pregnancy is likely to stretch your breasts again and offset the results of the procedure.

Dr. Leigh earned a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and began medical school at the University of North Dakota before finishing at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He did general surgery at Wake Forest University hospitals and plastic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee Erlanger Medical center as well as a fellowship at the University of Southern California plastic surgery program in Los Angeles.
